Josh Waller from the EPZ website contacted me about running a review of the new Venus lens.

Front page news for a while.

    Paul,

    Well done.

Your drain fly image, compared with my best efforts yesterday with my setup at f16, has convinced me that the lens is essential.

Thank you Harold - selective post processing also helps of course - as with all digital images some work is always required to an extent in most cases.

    Paul,

As the lens is not recessed at all at x2, in daylight there is potential for flare, if shooting towards strong light. Have you looked at this?

There seems to have been little mention, in the few reviews that, unlike the MPE-65, this lens can be used on bodies with built-in IS.

There's been precious little sunlight to assess flare control, but as the weather changes, it's something I'll try and check out.

On cameras with IS sensors, I assume the IS would work as with any other lens (Sony, Panasonic etc).

Yes, but affordability seems to get the emphasis, forgetting that, if were given a freebie MPE, we m4/3 users would have no way of using it.

No others can use it except Canon, never mind 4/3 users. Even cropped and FF users on Nikon and Pentax etc can't - Canon have a an exclusive lens which at the moment is a world beater. As you say 4/3 haven't one for their market - either the MPE or the Venus.

Why wold m4/3 users not be able to use the Venus? It is available with m4/3 adapter.
