Uploader fails when computers goes to sleep

I don't know if there's anything a browser-based app can do to solve this, but I was using the HTML5 uploader on Chrome on Windows 8. This desktop computer is configured to sleep after 30 mins of no activity (to save energy). When I try to upload images using the Smugmug uploader, the computer goes to sleep after 30 mins and the upload stops/fails.
When the computer wakes back up again, the uploader doesn't start up and if you pause it and then start again, it ends up with errors on some of the images you were uploading.
The ideal behavior would be that the uploader would keep the computer from going to sleep until the upload was done.
