So I went to clean out the bird box for the fall and when I opened it up there were about 15 wasp on their nest. Luckily it was still chilly enough that they didn't all go on the attack, but a couple got close.

Shot this with my 24-105L and EF12 extension tube. C&C welcome and appreciated.

I think those are Yellow Jackets, the mean ones. Glad they didn't get you. Nice shot, like the colors on them.

You're right. Don't know why I called them wasps. I think we grew up calling them wasps.

Nice! Sharp and vibrant! Love the critters! Wish you had left some more space towards the top and bring the critters tad closer! Cheers!

Not an annoyance at all. I'm willing to try anything to learn. How's this? I tried to find the balance. v3-4443_zps78338d0c.jpg

Awesome. Thanks! I first picked up a DSLR about 4 years ago and have been slowly teaching myself how to figure it all out. Thanks for the feedback. I greatly appreciate it.

Nice shots! I would have backed away slowly if I saw that.

That's why I wait until February to clean out my bird houses. Nothing like a little freezing weather to cut down on surprises.

Thanks Craig. Normally I do the same thing, but I gambled this time.

Yellow Jackets are wasps (there are approximately 100,000 species of wasp) ;).

    Good shot, brave shot ;)
