Kool April Nites in Redding

Spent a few hours in the middle of an intersection behind a Palm tree during Cruise night last Friday - the 3rd day in the Redding Kool April Nites event. Had a lot of fun since there were 4 lanes of classic cars, hot rods, low-riders, sports cars, rat rods, etc. cruising slowly by. I even begged off riding in the cruise so that I could stay in the intersection - and nobody really minded

!

The parade went on for about 1,800 entrants

There were Vendors entertaining the crowds

And some had their own type of classic - Radio Flyer with a Bud in the front!

All in all, everyone had a good time even though the crowds were a little thinner than last year due to the rain.

Lovely set! Nice rides! #1 looks like it was taken in 1950s! #5 and #8 are great as well!

A great series of photos. #6 is a gorgeous example of The 1958 Ford retractable hardtop. A great looking car with 10 relays, 13 switches, and 3 motors to raise and lower the top. A friend has one and is always making minor adjustments to keep the top working correctly.

Looks like a fun time. I'm going to have to keep this event in mind for a visit.

Hey Phil, thanks for the kind words. I loved the Fairlane's colors and the retractable hardtop. I didn't realize how intricate it was!

The Redding Car Show and Cruise is a fun one with lots of great looking cars. The event also has a special showing inside the Auditorium that showcase special paint jobs and custom work. I didn't have my camera with me in the auditorium (hence the lack of photos in this thread). This is one example from last year - the Steampunk Car. What doesn't show in the photo is the intricate work on the dash and steering wheel .... lots of airplane parts and copper!

Nice work, Jo. I can't say I'm into low-riders but that " bubble top " Chevy in #5 has always been one of my favorite body designs.

Thanks Tom and Coop. Yea, I love that beautiful Fairlane too.

Tom - I'm not really into low-riders either, but the guys were fun that evening playing with the crowd and especially someone standing mid-street with a camera

. Each time they came around, they put on another show. Between just seeing some beautiful cars and playing the participants, I had a grin on my face for a couple of hours. I don't think I've seen an Impala low-rider before.
