Email forwarding from Godaddy

New SmugMugger here, having trouble setting up. I got my own domain thru Godaddy, and have put it into my SmugMug account details. So far, so good. The SmugMug page redirects fine from my site URL.
However, there is supposedly free email-forwarding from my Godaddy domain, to another email address of my choice, and it's this that I can't figure out. The error messages are about something called MX Records, which I don't seem to have, and don't know what they are. The Help on Godaddy is not useful in this respect, and I have no idea what I need to do, or how to go about doing it.
Can anyone explain - in words of one syllable! - how to set up email forwarding from Godaddy email @ mydomain.com to e.g. my-email @ icloud.com ?
