Question about SM URLs

A rogue site is making unauthorized use of some of my images, using a URL shortener to cover its tracks. For example: the source page of the site contains: http://ift.tt/1x8CiCG, which redirects to:
http://rsinmadrid.smugmug.com/photos/i-5pqrkwZ/0/XL/i-5pqrkwZ-XL.jpg.

My question is this: If I use SmugMug's replace image function to substitute something mildly insulting for the image in question, then move it to a hidden gallery, will the new image carry exactly the same URL as the old one? The goal is to screw up the rogue site without messing up my visible SM galleries. I understand that I would need to upload a fresh copy of the images to the visible SM galleries, and that's fine.

Don't know whether it matters, but I'm still on legacy SM.

Thanks.

    Hi Richard,

That's super frustrating! When you use the Replace function, the image ID stays the same on the SmugMug side, so it should work the way you've described. Old or New SmugMug should work the same way with this type of action.

If there's anything else we can help you with, just let us know!

Hmmm...I tried an experiment earlier today and it didn't work--the newly replaced image seemed to have a totally different URL. I might have done something wrong, so I'll try it again tomorrow and let you know. headscratch.gif
