Can't apply watermarks in Photo Protection.

Hi, new SmugMug user here.

I have tried several times to apply a watermark that I created within Photo Protection. It appears to be applied but when I select a photo, no watermark.

This is a critical feature for me without which I won't pay for a subscription.

Any pointers appreciated. Pretty frustrating stuff.

Update: the watermark was applied to some but not all photos in the gallery.

It's a transparent GIF.

Help appreciated, thanks.

If you're watermarking a whole gallery, it can take a little bit until every watermark shows up. (even tho there are times they'll show up instantly) Hmm, the only other issue I can think of if some don't show up eventually, is to be sure each photo is of the minimum dimension to be able to be watermarked. (In other words, there's a minimum width in pixels for an image to be watermarked on SmugMug) If that's the issue, you'd have to check the help pages to be sure what that minimum is... sorry I can't recall the number.

Check the size of the photos you are trying to watermark.

From the help page Why is my custom watermark not working?:

Check the pixel dimensions of your Original image. We won't apply watermarks to any photo smaller than 801 pixels on the longest side.

From the help page How do I watermark photos?

FYI: We don't watermark photos whose longest side is equal to or less than 800 pixels because a display copy and the original are the same image. The default proof watermark will apply to the Large display size and images larger than 801px on the longest side. Custom watermarks can be set to apply on any size down to the Thumb display size.

We also don't watermark your originals because the original files are what we use to create your gorgeous prints!

Also from that page:

Gotcha: Check that your gallery image-display setting matches your watermark size setting, otherwise your watermark may not appear. For example, if your watermark is set to apply to Large images and up but your gallery is set to display images at a maximum size of Medium, your watermark won't appear.
