Mono Lake Sunset
I was in the eastern sierras a few weeks ago and got very lucky. The whole week there were great clouds. This is a shot from Mono Lake that I ran through NIK's hdr software. I'm still not sure if its over the top or not.

Some people might call it over the top. I'd call it art.

"... I'm still not sure if its over the top or not."

Not yet- but truthfully, it looks a bit dingy. Look at the sky above the horizon. There's some nasty haloing back there. The composition, and what the light is doing is most excellent though. IMO.

WFeller this was my first try with NIK Software's HD plugin. I'll have to work with it some more.

Understandable. The potential is absolutely there. You'll have a great piece once you get the hang of the software.

Good to see your work again. It's been awhile hasn't it?

"I'm still not sure if its over the top or not." There's no answer except from your own tastebuds. You got great light and you did a fine job of capturing it.

With this sort of processing I don't think you'll please everyone - and only a photographer who post-processes will look for artefacts (i.e. many of the dgrin mob) - most people will just go WOW! and heap praise upon you

That's what I've found from my own experience of HDR-ish photos.

I like it also. You did have some great sky to work with and the composition is quite appealing.

Great pop.

I shot that place more than a half dozen times, but never at sunset (I'll have to try it)

Well done
