Good work, Eric. I think I'll go with the second one. I like the inclusion of the sky. The first one, though, more closely matches your title.

Nice shots Eric, my favorite is the second one. I would like it even more if you had used a slightly longer exposure though. How long did you leave the shutter open?

Thanks Tom, glad I could sent some "left coast" your way.
Yeah, I had to crop the sky out of the first one due to some nasty sea-spray spots on my filters.

Thanks for the kind comment and feedback Juano!
This shot was 21mm, 1 sec. @ f22 with an ND8 and a 25% GND threaded filters.
So, with f22 as a practical limit on my 60D/17-40L gear combination, 1 sec. was about all I could hold 'er open for in this light. I even added more GND to the sky in PP to cool it down.
Better, square filters are on my "wish list"

To see how it is really done, check out my friends Smug galleries here:

In my very limited experience I've found that between 2and 3 seconds render the water into a soft veil that I like, but as you said you need a filter that will reduce several stops or shoot at the exact time of day when the light is just right.

Very nice. I particularly like the first one, which is less dramatic but more engaging.

Thanks so much for the feedback Don, much appreciated.
OBTW - I was born in Nogales, have traveled the entire state, and lived in Sedona, but all before I got a DSLR - so, I am partial to AZ and very much enjoy looking at your posts and galleries of AZ scenery. I grew-up drooling over Arizona Highways magazine and the work of David Muench, Marc's dad. I think I need to get back there and get-in some clicks - it's a wonderful place for photography.

Then get back here, Eric! As you know, there's a lot of wide open space and room for a few visitors.

A couple of years ago I had the chance to get down there when I visited San Diego, It was in the mid morning and afternoon so it never crossed my mind to return for a slower shutter silky look. Very nice. Most I got of the trip there was the seals and surfers/ That was nice too.
