Deal Made
Early evening, a truck rattles up my street. I have been waiting. A man wearing a hat and dark glasses whispered, "are you Sam?", I nod, he says "lets get this over with, where do you want it?"

I nod towards the open garage door and ask him if he has everything he needs to get the merchandise in there. With a condescending smirch he gets to work. He has done this many times before.

I will keep you all posted as this moves forward.

I bought 6 new printers this week.
All the boxes combined didn't add up to the size of that one.

I also bought over 50 boxes of paper, 8L of ink, 2 new desktop computers, 4 bulk ink tanks, another speedlight, a 10-22, a 17-40, a 24-105, a colormunki and a 650D.
The pile of rubbish and cardboard from all that I now have to get rid of WOULD be about right for that box.
They sure tend to over package stuff these days.

I have been thinking of getting a small wide format printer mainly for doing signs and banners as I seem to be spending a heap on those of late.
Holding off until I can find a supplier of bulk ink. The OEM stuff is ridiculous.

Update,

I gota tell ya I'm not all that happy with Canon. I was told everything I needed was in the box. After carefully following the instructions and assembling the stand. The instructions said I needed 6 people to place the main portion on the stand.

Would you believe they didn't even include one person?

Now here I sit trying to figure out how to entice 6 unsuspecting people over to help.

Glort,

There are quite a few after market ink suppliers for the large format printers but I wouldn't touch them when dealing with fine art prints. however for signage and posters I wouldn't object to giving them a try.

Also note there are large format printers specifically made for sign shops to print all kinds of banners including on vinyl with UV resistant inks. They generally have only 4 to 6 colors and are substantially less expensive to operate, then say a large format photo printer with 12 inks.

A simple yet elegant solution.

Now I can't continue to blame others for getting the printer set up and going.

OK, ink installed, ran print test, all looks good.

Tomorrow I will download ICC profiles and start testing real images and paper.

PS: this is only the small 36 " roll.
