The Hot Seat

A lifelong interest in landscape photography has led Eyal Oren to make a study of his adopted hometown of Marblehead, MA. As you can see, his dedication is paying off!

I'm not a stickler for the "rules" of composition, but sometimes I see examples
of "rule breaking" that make me believe in the rules. I like the scene and the
shot, but I really think it's blocked by having the figure to the extreme right and
facing out of the frame. He has no room.

With him at the left, and the expanse of steps ahead of him, it would have been
a much better shot. You take what you can get sometimes, though, and I don't
know if a change in your angle was possible.

Hehehe... shot from a moving car w high SS (70/200)

Since he is resting/still I didn't think the "room in front" convention applied and I liked the negative space & context, the geometric stair lines and the word center. I tossed the others from the burst

Thanks for your thoughtful response Tony, much appreciated (hell you're keeping me honest)...
