Tutorials

Ever find yourself wondering just how someone managed to create an image using different effects?

Here are three simple tutorials we hope will encourage you to try something new.

The Hot Seat

A lifelong interest in landscape photography has led Eyal Oren to make a study of his adopted hometown of Marblehead, MA. As you can see, his dedication is paying off!

Africa!

Dgrinners Harryb, Pathfinder, and others joined Andy Williams and Marc Muench on Safari in East Africa recently. Here are some awesome threads to check out!

These kinda miss for me. I see the word "beer" on the can, but I don't
automatically see that as a beer can. It could be a soft drink can. I really don't
see the connection or disconnection in #2. The blue line (left) and the
reflective sign surface distracts. I see a mix of hot sauces, but I really
don't see it as interesting.

Part of the problem is that I'm accustomed to seeing much better stuff
from you.

Thanks Tony.

Can't say I totally agree but will admit to a slump of late (heart just not in it)

Surprised you did not comment on the "Glock"

Think I'll go pop another top on a "Modello"

Accused Shill.
I like #1-- good juxtaposition. The other two I'm scratching my head over.

I don't know why you'd be surprised. To paraphrase a bumper
sticker "Guns don't kill a photograph. Composition and lack of
an interest factor does".

I've never heard of Modelo Beer. I'm a Würzburg drinker unless
you're buying. In that case, anything except a Lite/Light beer.

Ben, I personally enjoy work like this. I'd rather not share what I really think in a public forum. Just leaving a note that I came, I saw.

If you want to share images/ideas privately, I'd like that. I've long wanted to join a private (non-public), invite-only, unmoderated photography group for just such conversations. A "safe" place where photographers can express their raw, honest emotions without causing world-wide-flamefests by offending the bystanders. A place where everyone has skin in the game. Am I the only one?

Well Tony,

Never seen that "Bumper" and the mood/emotion of that .............well let's just say Comp was
not high on list. That is the problem with shots of this nature, passing those feelings/reasons on.
I've taken countless crap images to everyone but me and for the life of me I cannot explain
why my brain sometimes forces my fingers to share!

If we ever meet, whatever you would like is on me

If so, I must be bad enough to have never been invited. I suppose I could start one, but then I'd probably be the only member. Conversations with myself??? I already have a blog.

The idea summed up:
* Private and invite only.
* 100% unmoderated (must be legal, no spam).
* Participation is the only requirement.
* There will be a system in place for 100% anonymous posts that can be used in special circumstances.

Do you think something like that would work?
