For those that want SmugMug to update their Facebook page including fan page
While trying to better integrate with Facebook, I found that I could use this app to post to my facebook pages.
http://www.facebook.com/RSS.Graffiti I tested it out, and I was able to configure it to set up a feed so it will post to my wall every time I upload a new gallery. It's pretty neat! In order to get the link for the feed, you click on the "Share" tab in your gallery. Then you click "Get a Link". Follow the steps until you see an option to click on "Feed Links". I believe you can use either RSS or Atom and then you can choose the details of your feed below. I hope this helps some of you who are also looking for ways to show off your SmugMug on Facebook. Especially since you can have it feed to your fan page. So useful. |

I'm not very happy with the format of the information though, among other things it states that I have "updated" the gallery rather than posted it - see here: http://www.facebook.com/MarcusTPhotography e.g. "Marcus Tucker Photography updated gallery 'March 2010 - Shake @ Electric Ballroom'" Ideally I would like greater control over the text that appears in the feed through options in my SmugMug account settings, or alternatively via the feed URL itself. However, it should be possible to use Yahoo! Pipes to modify the feed to make it more presentable (and then run that output through RSS Grafitti and/or Feedburner before it goes into RSS Graffiti) I just haven't got round to experimenting... if anyone does play with this then please do post a link to your Pipe configuration so that we can all benefit & adapt to our needs...? I've posted this as a bug here (as it affects display on the site itself, which I can't fix in the way I theoretically could with RSS):

Couldn't get this RSS Graffiti app to work
Hi. I tried installing this app on my Facebook fan page, and it hasn't work. I went through all the steps and the link between my website and the fan page is turned on. The app hasn't shown up in my app's list within Facebook.
This is my website: http://simonfernandezphotography.smugmug.com/ and this is the fan page I want to embed my pictures into (of feed them to) http://www.facebook.com/SimonFernand...ographyArchive Any idea how I can make this work? Or if not, does anyone know of an app that's free that you can embed pictures from smugmug to a Facebook fan page? Thanks s |

Something tells me this breaking had a lot to do with the new timeline format. I wonder if there's any other RSS feeders out there for fb?
Maybe one of those will work.
