As I can recall it did not. It had a swing arm type piece that is in chrome. That allowed the wheel to have some up and down motion like a damper.

It also had 3 wheels in the rear.

Thanks for the info. I think that's a torsion bar (the spring) - which is un damped. Makes the bike pretty dangerous over 40 mph

The russian craft is a - It is a USSR Tupolev -
