For a couple of years I've had some Japanese Font in my Custom Header it was coded like this:

<FONT SIZE=1>
<CENTER>
| <A HREF="http://guy.smugmug.com/gallery/3889950">ブログ</A&gt; |
<A HREF="http://guy.smugmug.com/gallery/33392">新らしい写真</A&gt; |
<A HREF="http://guy.smugmug.com/Outdoors-Hikes-Climbs-etc">アウトドア</A&gt; |
<A HREF="http://guy.smugmug.com/Pacific Northwest&quot;&gt;&#12458;&#12524;&#12468;&#12531;&#12289;&#12527;&#12471;&#12531;&#12488;&#12531;&#24030;&lt;/A&gt; |
<A HREF="http://guy.smugmug.com/Travel">旅行</A&gt; |
<A HREF="http://guy.smugmug.com/Family">家族</A&gt; |
<A HREF="http://guy.smugmug.com/gallery/4324535_qSswm">ゲストブック</A&gt; |
</CENTER>
</FONT>

All of a sudden it's stopped working and now it just shows a bunch of random symbols!! Has something changed on Smugmug's end? I haven't made any changes in a long time.

Thanks.

    Character/symbol problem
    Absolutely SM must be having a problem & it's not just with non-English characters which are TOTALLY screwed up (ours are Russian & total gibberish), but also with certain symbols. Our home page previously had a 'dot' separating the NAV bar titles which are showing up as weird symbols. I tried deleting & reinstalling the code for this, but the same thing showed up. Even some of our English navigation is screwed up & something like apostrophes. SM is down at the moment - hope they're trying to fix this!!

    I think I've suddenly started suffering a related problem. Everywhere I have used a "©" symbol (in all captions and in page footers) it is now prefaced with a "Â".

    We don't have that symbol in our language. When I remove it, it immediately reappears. I hope SmugMug is going to fix this! eek7.gif

    Since today I'm having the same problems (also with ö, ä, etc.)

    Probably something went wrong with the maintenance they did today

    It's in your custom footer - check that section of your HTMLadvanced customization. This is what I see there:

    </br></br>
    </br></br>
    <center><small>© 2011 Nadya Reid Photography</small></center>

    There's a bigger, SmugMug wide problem - for example, see this thread.

    Ah, my bad - sorry for the misdirection.

    It's showing in my footer now too - when I look at the source from the displayed web page it shows there. But you're right, smug is putting that garbage in there. So much for testing...

    Thanks everyone for reporting this. We're aware of the issue and our sorcerers will get on it as soon as possible.
    Just in case I'd recommend not to make any changes to affected characters until it's resolved.

    I'm sorry for any inconvenience.

    This is not funny, I looked at my gallery descriptions and found all these funny capital "A"'s in them.

    Is this releated to last nights maintainance?

    The A's are where I once inserted html spaces.

    Sorry for the trouble, but we'll have it fixed up a bit later today. You need do nothing, it's on our end and we'll get it sorted. Sorry for the hassle!

    Thanks for the update Andy.

    I would suggest that you review your test procedures. There have been entirely too many breaks as you roll out new code - and issues like this one should have been caught before rolling the changes into production.

    At least this particular error doesn't stop viewing of galleries, but it does give a non-professional appearance to our sites.
