Tutorials

Ever find yourself wondering just how someone managed to create an image using different effects?

Here are three simple tutorials we hope will encourage you to try something new.

The Hot Seat

A lifelong interest in landscape photography has led Eyal Oren to make a study of his adopted hometown of Marblehead, MA. As you can see, his dedication is paying off!

Africa!

Dgrinners Harryb, Pathfinder, and others joined Andy Williams and Marc Muench on Safari in East Africa recently. Here are some awesome threads to check out!

The morning after
Yesterday we had a brutal snowstorm that dumped 30+cm of snow (a foot for those of you south of the 49th parallel) and then swirled it around with strong winds.

We woke up this morning to....
#1 Hubby with his back-saving 'toy'

#2 A roof that needed shoveling

#3 A gorgeous sunrise over the field across the road from our house

#4 and at the cross road too

#5

Just a typical January morning in the Maritimes!

I've got to get myself one of those toys - my 19 and 25 year old won't be around forever (although sometimes it seems like it )

I love #3 - it reminds me of northern Maine.

Oh my goodness ... you did get snow didn't you

Truly enjoyed your series of photos. Your view from across the road is beautiful. As for the 'back saver' our men use .. I want my own now. Looking at a smaller version to do our back yard. Shoveling it is the pits.

When will you see ground again .. March?

Thanks - to everyone. IF we're lucky, we'll see mud - er - ground in late March or early April. Green things should appear in late April or early May - although we have had the occasional blizzard in early May (ugh).

My FAVOURITE season is fall - which often extends into mid-November. It's cool (but not cold), the sun still has some strength, there are no bugs to drive you nuts if you go out into the woods, and the autumn colours in the leaves are fantastic. The downside is the decreasing daylight hours and the knowledge that the white sh*t isn't far behind.

Here's a link to my opinion on winter
