Watermarks on images
hi everyone. i have a question in regards to adding a watermark on the pictures. personally i'm not a fan of seeing text on the pictures - sorta takes away the "wow" factor from the shots but as a photographer i am worried about having my pictures stolen. i some times add a border on my pictures and then put my signature on it but whomever is going to steel my pix can easily crop out border.
so any thoughts of what else is there other than adding a watermark or how can a watermark be added but not be distracting?

So I've resigned myself to just showing the lowest size on SM, which isn't too bad for viewing, but doesn't 'blow up' very good.

I've been doing the same thing as well - changing the size to 1200x800 but i guess i could make it even more smaller.

The biggest issue you have is you are allowing visitors to access your original image and haven't even right click protected it.
I can copy the original image at the resolution you uploaded. You can upload a very large image for printing, but limit the size that can be seen. Watermarks don't have to be huge gaudy or graffiti like. If it's on the internet it can be swiped. Sam

Make a small watermark image instead of font if you want.... and make your photos viewable to Size medium so that reprinting if they steal is next to impossible. I never set my galleries to be viewable to anything larger than large for that purpose.
I would watermark a thin bar with your website name on the bar and fade it so it can still be seen. If someone steals your image and attempt to print it'll either be too small or have the watermark. If they put it on facebook you can prove it's your copyright and have FB take it down or let that person advertise for you. I know this is a stupid question but do you have a decent program like photoshop to make watermarks? |
