Question (and I apologize if this was covered and I missed it): Do the images have to be fresh (i.e., shot during the challenge period) or can they be older shots?

    Looking forward to it!

lol3.gif This was a point of discussion for me and several others, and now I forget to put that in, Laughing.gif!

I added this to the rules:
The entries don't have to be fresh (taken during the actual challenge period) but if you want to challenge yourself come up with something specifically for this challenge.

    Thanks!

    You're welcome thumb.gif

I think that since People is such a busy forum and there are so many people that shoot mainly people around here, this could be a nice thing.

So who is the judge? How does the judging work? Voting? Random judge?

    This is gonna be fun!

    Lot's of fun :Dclap.gifwings.gif
Judging: voting by all, on all the photos that have been entered. I'm going to keep the existing entry thread and add a poll to it for the remainder of the month thumb.gif

Great idea, Ivar. I love people photography. I was just wondering if it would be possible to dedicate a gallery on Smugmug to this challenge every round where people can upload their images to instead of posting them inside a thread ... just like the way Dgrin Challenges does. It is a lot easier to browse through the images that way. Pictures get lost inside threads.

I think lots of people do, that's why it is one of the most busy forums here :D

Thanks for the suggestion thumb.gif It's possible, however I have chosen specifically not to go there for a variety of reasons. I wanted to keep it low maintenance. Reading instructions on how to post on SmugMug seems to be hard for some people (I've done the POTY thing for the last few years here with Smug galleries, and it amazes me every time how many people needed help). Voting is a lot easier this way, I can just add a poll to the existing thread. Some people don't want to put their photos on a different site, and the thread makes it a lot easier for people wanting to change their entry.

I would reccomend, then, re-posting small versions back in your original post when you add the poll, so all the photos are there for equal viewing without lots of clicking and scrolling. Just my two cents.

Ahh, just realized how clean you're keeping the entry thread, so nevermind my earlier comment. And thanks, again, for running it... it's a cool idea.

Yeah, it's entries only for now. After the deadline (soon!) i'll add a poll to that same thread, and then it's open for other comments. All the entries should be together near the top of the thread that way thumb.gif

I set it to 4 days this morning. The correct time/date for your location should be there, above the poll-choices thumb.gif

Looking at the subject for Challenge #2, I'm wondering about a sequence I did recently. I accidentally shot a very high-key photo, total blow-out, but ran it through a couple filters, and really enjoyed the result. Do you think an artistic filter (dry brush) kills a photo for a challenge like this?

    edit...

What about coloration, separate from art filters? Taking a sooc BW image to deep blue for shadows, for instance?

If you think it fits the theme, you can enter it thumb.gif I'm not too worried about what goes and what doesn't go with the theme; If you think it goes, it goes.

Well, it kinda depends what voters think too... but here goes nothin'. It's the best I'm likely to have in the next several weeks, anyway.
