Hello,

I'm looking for a solution that seems like it would be simple but in practice, I'm not really able to find what I need. I'm looking for an online photo sharing/backup service such as Smugmug that I can set up to sync with my local photo files. I'd like to have all my pics uploaded, even though I won't share them all. Then, I'd like to be able to upload photos from my phone and ALSO have those sync back to my local computer so that I don't have to separately upload photos from my phone onto my computer and end up either tagging the photos twice or having two versions. But this two way sync seems rather elusive. Has anyone got something like this setup or know if it's possible? If so, how? I've done lots of online searches and am not really finding definitive info.

I'm running Windows (currently Vista, planning to upgrade to 7) and currently using (please don't laugh) Windows Live Photo Gallery to simply organize/tag my photos. Along that line, I'm wondering if Smugmug can handle regular tags/keywords as well as face tags? I've spent quite a lot of time using them and it would be great if the would show up in Smugmug. Does Smugmug support geotagging in any way and if so, how (pre-geotagged photos, adding geotag info through Smug site, or ???)

After reading through the Blackberry thread on here I think I know the answer to this next one but...are there any Smugmug apps for the various current smartphones (particularly Windows Mobile or Android) or plans to add them? I thought I saw that an Android app was in development (from searching) but seemed to stall out...any word of the status on this or is it just dead?)

welcome, thanks for posting! We don't do a 2way sync, sorry - nor facetagging but we do awesome keywording! I hope one day we'll do more support for other smartphones, too - but can't comment on any specific plans right now.

Thanks for the reply and the info. I did just hope to get clarification on one point...when you said that you don't do two-way sync, is that for a native Smugmug app or does that include a third party apps via the API? I mean, is the API somehow disabled to not allow two-way sync?
