Was lucky enough to play hooky for a couple of hours and catch my first snail kite - an endangered species found only in south Florida. She also had a couple of friends hanging around...hope you enjoy...KT

all shots with my 30D and 400mm f/5.6.

Thinking about getting a 7D given that I've been waiting a while for something in a smaller form factor that had better auto focus - those 1Ds are awfully nice, but also awfully heavy and big... but I would keep the 30D as a backup....Thanks for looking....

Very nice set of captures, KT. I might point out that the Snail Kite's range reaches to Centrail Florida with many seen in the Kissimmee area. On rare occasions, you will even see them in the Viera Wetlands in Brevard County.

Your second shot in this set is just outstanding!! clap.gif

    Thanks, Ira....
Not being a native Floridian, I'm still learning and appreciate the input...and thanks to those who commented.
