Downloading these updates now:
http://www.macrumors.com/2009/05/12/apple-releases-the-mac-osx-10-5-7-update/

Just wondering if they finally fix this issue:
http://blogs.smugmug.com/don/2009/03/26/nasty-safari-bug-not-fixed-since-december/

Looks like it might just be a security update though:

I'll report back if I still notice the issue after the update.

I am still having issues with having to refresh pages along with getting the white page that states "Bad Request". My page is refreshing faster when it does do that but now whenever I am in a certain gallery and I highlight a certain shot the info bar that pops up is transparent and some of the buttons are invisible.

Im running both a Macbook Pro and Mac Pro for computers with 10.5.7 currently installed.

I don't think Bad Request has anything to do with Mac OS X. It's a very recent problem; 10.5.6 and Safari used to work just fine.

I just ran my update and was very excited in the hope that smugmug would be fixed.

I immediately went to my smugmug account and after viewing a few galleries, I got the same blank pages and "bad request" message that I did before the update. Now what....?

Don (our CEO & Chief Geek) just made a little change, based on some brand new information from Apple (finally!) - and he believes this issue should be resolved, can those of you who've had the Bad Request error please try and surf the site in Safari and see if you can make it happen again?

    Let us know, thanks! ear.gif

    Andy,
I just clicked on each gallery and two or three photos in each gallery, then back to galleries again.
I also tried it as owner, visitor, and logged out and it seems to be working fine!

    Thank you! Thank you! clap.gif

On my main computer, I have just recently been getting the "bad request" with Safari and OS 10.5.6, but have not updated yet to see if your new fix works.

However, I just checked on my older mac laptop which uses OS 10.3.9, and Safari 1.3.2 (the highest level available for that version of the OS), and galleries do not load pictures at all! The gallery itself will load, but no photos. Refreshing the page does nothing. It used to work fine, so something is broken on Smugmug's end. I imagine there are still a lot of users out there who use older versions of the Mac OS and Safari, so this is not good at all!

    Hi Mr. Skull,

Apple has stopped supporting Safari 1 a very long time ago. We've supported it much longer than they did, but it's old and doesn't handle the new goodness that browsers nowadays handle. You can get Firefox 2 on this system and it should work fine. You can get it here.

Fewer than 2% of Mac OS X users are still on 10.3.x or older, according to the Omni Group's data. The web and browser technologies have changed so much since then that continuing to support Safari 1.x is basically hopeless. You should upgrade your OS so you can run a newer version of Safari, or use another browser like Firefox.

    Still Getting Bad Request (14 May 2009 @ 2:07pm)
Andy - I just checked my galleries on my iMac. I downloaded and installed the most recent software update from Apple and I am still getting the "BAD REQUEST" error.

The gallery I visited did not load any pictures at all and then when I hit the back button I got the BAD REQUEST error message. I did a cut and past of the message if it does you any good. I have no idea what it means.

Hi, can you reset Safari please, or clear all SmugMug cookies, and the Safari Cache, close and reopen, trying again? ear.gif

OK - I cleared the Cache and then decided to Reset Safari completely. Once I logged back into my Gallery, the photos are loading properly and, after visiting several galleries, I have not seen the dreaded "Bad Request" page. Looks like things are back in order<img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/thumb.gif" border="0" alt="" >

Now if we could just get the SmugMug Statistics back online all would be right with the world. :ivar <Sorry - I couldn't resist... I tried to stop myself, I really did:poke >

Glad to hear your Safari issue is resolved.

Can't resist to clarify: SmugMug stats are working - they are only updating delayed by 24 hours or less.
