so, I wrote this hack a long time ago, before I worked for SmugMug when I had loads of free time to do cool stuff like hacks or 3rd party apps for community. Unfortunately, now with having two small children i'm not so lucky...and most of my time goes towards developing new stuff (one such project has some exciting improvements which may actually reduce the need for this hack) that will benefit everyone and not just a few who choose to use hacks.

I have been hoping that someone from the community would step up and look at fixing the issue....but obviously that hasn't happened.

Thanks for all you do Dev. You've done a ton for me personally...bowdown.gif
I hope the work on this new feature goes well and it can be released soon as the hack version is such a time saver I'm having issues setting up my new galleries w/o it... Thanks again...
I definitely understand the lack of time issue...

Sure hope something shows up for bulk cropping and zooming thumbs, it
now takes me hours doing one at a time for every new gallery.

Agreed. This is CRITICAL. Without some sort of bulk zooming capability, square thumbs are virtually useless.

We really do appreciate your work, Dev! I just hope that SM makes this a priority for proper implementation.

On the wiki, just replace the JS section.

I just tried v3.4 since v3.3 seemed to stop working. It seems that the thumbnail setting in the gallery settings must be set to original (not square) for this to work ok (in some cases).

I had this set to square, then tried to use bulk zoom and the thumbnails looked as if they were all compressed either vertically or horizontally. You should see what I mean in this screen shot:

    559515167_TJPtR-X3.jpg

So I was just wondering if this is a bug, or if it is required to change the gallery thumbnail setting (under look and feel) to original before using this tool.

BZT loaded here, all crop windows showed, checked 1x1 and they switched to
1x1. I didn't go any farther because all thumbs already set.

Only thing I've noticed is getting the "picking a crop drop" to work tales quite a few clicks.

Maybe the stretch slideshow code conflicts? That's the only new JS I've added in a while... I'll test that...

Which viewing style were you in? It seems to be OK in SM view, but not all thumbsne_nau.gif

    Smugmug style

I usually blow my browser full screen so there are more thumbs to work with.
Then use two or three tabs for different pages BZT'in.
Too much trouble to switch to all thumbs every time.

Can you do a test in all thumbs for me to see if BTZ works in all thumbs for you?

We always are updating. You'll want to subscribe to our Release Notes blog, so that you don't miss a single update from SmugMug :)http://blogs.smugmug.com/release-notes/ at the bottom, there's a link for Entries (RSS) - put that in your favorite feed reader.

I'll ask Devbobo to look at BZT hack.

Mine worked until last week. I don't know if I use SmugMug style or not.

But it definitely worked until last week. Now... eek7.gif

One would think that something that could be that easily hacked could be put in as a real feature by the code wizards... ne_nau.gif

+1 to making this a real feature, not a hack. If you use square thumbnails, modifying them is kind of an important thing to be able to do easily and quickly.

There is something that looks like it should be for this purpose:

Tools > Many Photos > More > Adjust Thumbnails.

But I can't for the life of me figure out what this feature does. It goes off and says "We're working on your thumbnails" .. but it doesn't seem to make any adjustments.

This is one of my biggest frustrations with Smugmug right now. They implement, and even encourage, the use of square thumbs for a long time now, but ever since square thumbs started, there has never been an easy and quick way to modify them.

Square thumbs need adjusting in over half of my portrait photos and probably a third of my landscape images. The recent "upgrade" to the thumbnail crop tool is a joke. When I upload a gallery of hundreds of images, it would take hours to do it with the official tool. Using the BZT hack has certainly helped, but it's quirky and doesn't always work.

This is something that really must be addressed by the SM team.
