End of a soldier fly
Found this male soldier fly Chloromyia formosa struggling to escape a spider on ground elder (first 2 shots). Assume the spider had already bitten the fly as it left the spider for a while and then came back when it had stopped struggling (#3).

Looks very similar to a cucumber green spider, but very pale -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cucumber_green_spider

Thanks Nick - I'm familiar with the cucumber spider and it's not one of those- think it's Enoplognatha species.
