oops the video you've requested was not found
I've been working on a project for a local non profit organization. I've spent the last 3 days trying to compress and upload it and I'm so close to pulling out my hair.
It's an 8 minute video. I have uploaded a 720 by 480 version (319 MB)and a 352 by 240 version (198 MB) . Both uploaded and processed but when I click play it comes up with the error message "Oops, the video you've requested was not found". The weird thing is, if I keep hitting close and refresh it will eventually play it. At least it will eventually play the small version, I haven't got the big one to work yet. But then the next time I try to play it I'll get the message again. My husband tried on his computer and we've tried various browsers. I am a power user, by the way. But at least the smaller one aught to be within the range allowed from what I've read. We have a deadline fast approaching and I need to get these videos out to show to the organization before I can make redrafts. Also, I can't provide a link because the gallery is set to private. I'm still waiting on some permissions for some photos so I can't put anything public yet. But can provide link privately to admins if needed. Why might I be receiving these error messages? |

Hmmm my husband just tried it from work and it is playing fine. So perhaps an incompatibility with our network? I still can't view (other than sporadically) from here but I have sent the link off to those who need to see it, hopefully they won't have problems. It seems the file is there, but most of the time doesn't want to play from my home internet connection. Very strange.

I am very sorry that this is happening. I have been investigating this
trying to replicate it and get it fixed. For now, I have figured out that once the video has been touched once by you while logged into your site, if you wait a minute and go back it should play correctly. The other option is changing the external links setting in the gallery settings page to yes also helps. We hope to gt this fixed very soon. Do not worry, your photos and videos are safe. This is a display issue only. The files are still safe on the server.

Thank you for your prompt response. I'll go change the external links option and see what happens.

Hi folks, I am very sorry that it has taken this long to figure out what is happening. We think that we were able to fix part of the problem. There is another piece that may still be broken related to this but we have at least narrowed down finally what is causing it.
Can you try your passworded videos again with external links turned on and let me know if they are still broken. If they are, I need a link to the video and information about the browser you are using. If you are on the Mac, check which QuickTime plugin version you are using. PC users, check the flash version and let me know just in case. If you do not want to post the link here on Dgrin, email me at the help desk. http://www.smugmug.com/help/emailreal Put Attn: Doc in the subject so that I see it.

I created a new Gallery and moved several of my videos into it. When I go to the new gallery, all of thumbnails show, with their captions, and I can arrange them, but when I click on any one of them, I get a message: "oops cannot find the video".
So, what happened, and how do I fix it? thanks, Linm |

Have done so, thanks!
Hi Tristan;
I've emailed the help desk and sent links to that Gallery. Thanks for responding -- I had just sent the link to my "computer challenged" Users when I discovered it wasn't working properly!!! Lin Quote:

I've run into this a few times recently. I don't have time to fool with it so I just delete the video and re-upload it and it usually gets around the issue.

Hi All!
My site hasn't been touched in a while but I am back into getting it right. I had video on it, but now I can see the thumb change but when I click it wants a new gallery. Are these videos gone? I can see vid caps that change when I go back to the home page. Thanks for any help. |
