This one had nicer color (I thought) in the full size version. Resizing it kinda hosed it and I don't know why.

    Lynn,

You said to go ahead and post so I am. I just adjusted it a little in PS. Trying to get some punch in the photo. This was just a quickie. copied the low res and adjusted. Again I know very little about PS, just throwing in my 2 cents worth.
It looks good.. you did something to the lighting.. and what else, I'd be interested to know.:D

Maybe it has something to do with how the software resamples the image as it kicks out pixels? ne_nau.gif. Can be fixed in Photoshop, using layers.

It's a cool concept. I might have framed it so the left guy's back was against the frame. Better to leave room in the direction people are facing. That would have enhanced the "line" effect I think you might have been going for.

Had to go into Windsor at lunchtime today, and managed to get a few more, unfortutley some of the hats were better than the shots, here's the three that were ok.

    Nope. Big is good!

Whenever I post a reply that includes someone's smugmug hosted photo, I hack the image link down to the small size to keep my reply smaller.

    Hats
Decided that my Grandson Brady, might make a fair subject for the "hat assignment" when I caught him in the playroom, playing with my 100+ year old, "off limits", Derby. Always into mischief...

    More on the Hat Assignment...
And now the last three, as I told him it was time to give-up the Hat! Little terror...

    a quickly done one
It took a while to get my model to cooperate. She kept wanting to sniff the camera so I had to rush the setup a bit.

Fortunately, she didn't lick the lens... :D

I like the first one, he looks more innocent. I tried using the new sharpening technique on him.

    Innocent? He has you fooled!

    Thank-you...
Yes, I like the first one best, too. But innocent... Boy has he got you fooled... He was scheming up something, I assure you... Brady is one fiesty, rough and tumble, into everything, 4 year old boy. But I love my little grandson and wouldn't change a thing... Except perhaps, his temper...
I am not sure that I can see a difference between the two images... But of course it is more difficult without them being side-by-side.
Just loaded Photoshop CS onto my Mac, last evening... Can't wait to see what some of the differences are.
I am including a larger image of the one I originally loaded.

Yes, I agree. For some reason I had to reduce the file size, and any sharpness that I added, was lost. I think you'll enjoy CS. If I might recommend a book, it's "The Photoshop CS Book for Digital Photographers" by Scott Kelby. Filled with great how-to's in an illustrated, easy to follow step-by-step layout. Kelby's done quite a few of these, and he's good at it.

    As ever, yrs sincrly,

Another hat...another model... new lighting as per tutorial from Andy (it's inside tho, no sun.) I'm going to buy a seperate flash unit soon... and I got Dan Margulis's Professional Photoshop color correction so things should look up soon right???? I've cropped this for modesty and the color has dimmed somewhat with optimizing for the web..
