Doug,
Thank you SO much for pointing that out. I had forgotten to limit the size of my portfolio images. Thanks again!

In your about me page, you mention you're an award winner. Might be nice to expand on that and say what.

BTW, my favorite shot is the M's shot.

Hello all. I've just made some changes to my site and feedback would be appreciated. I know I need to change the watermarks on my images and will be doing this in a day. Thanks.

About 90% done. I'm hoping to solicit feedback before going live. Any thoughts? All input is welcome.

Thanks,
Chris

I love the design...especially that frame you use around your slideshow.

About - I'm sure you're probably still working on it, but just in case, when I click on the About link, it just takes me to another slideshow.

Galleries - When I click on the Galleries link, it takes me there fine and I'm seeing the galleries, except, I'm not seeing any images (I guess thumbnail might be a better description). All the boxes are black. But when I click on your individual links, like Portraits, I see the thumbnail for each gallery.

Also, looks like you have Originals available for people looking at your images. You'd probably want to make that X3 or smaller to help deter others from stealing your original images.

Here is mine.

Background:
I do not shoot professionally but more of a hobby on the side over the last 3 years. I recently went on a family vacation to Alaska which inspired me to finally make a site (besides my flickr) and its been a blast. I have always loved graphic design (which I suck at) and website design (equally bad at) but smugmug makes it pretty easy. And this site is a HUGE help.

Right now I am trying to work on my "inquiries" page, which is going to be a type of FAQ thing. But not sure how to do it. So right now its just a gallery with journal (old) as the type.

Also have my contact info on the bottom, instead of a separate tab which most people use. I guess its not super important because I am not trying to actively illicit clients since I have a day job.

Enjoy!

Moving Comments

Hi,

All my comments are under the Biography gallery. Is there a way I could move all comments to my homepage?

Thanks.

So, my SmugMug site has finally reached the equivalent of a "public beta" release.
URL: http://www.henriksundholm.com/

Any constructive criticism is welcome! If it involves changing code, please also show me how those changes should be made.

Overall, I'm just very greatful because SmugMug is an incredible product, and the people who write on this forum are so helpful. Without you, I'd never been able to fix the site myself. So thanks! :lust

For some reason it's loading very slow on my end, I'm not sure what would cause that though. The first thing that stood out is you have not limited the view size at all. Go into your galleries and select Xlarge or Large for your Max size. Letting people view and therefore download and copy your original file is just giving your hard work away. Other than that it's clean and simple. You've got some really nice photos there, protect them :)

Thanks! I've noticed it's loading slow on some machines but haven't looked into it.

I have no problem with people downloading the original files for personal use. Realistically I'll never make much money from landscape photography anyway. There's a short passage about it in the bio page: "You may download my photos and use them in any non-commercial way you like. I only ask that you provide credit and a link back to this site, if you publish anything in original or modified form. If you wish to license my photos for commercial use, please contact me for further discussion."

Basically, I agree with Trey Ratcliff on this one :)

Request for crits

Greetings, it would be wonderful if you would check my site and please, be as ruthless as you like. I've just removed my stretchy slideshow on opening for a smaller, hopefully cleaner look than I had. I also know that my site could appear very cluttered with some galleries perhaps having too much 'stuff'.

Thoughts?

Hi. So I have been going back and forth on the site and feel fairly comfortable with how it is now. I would appreciate any and all constructive :D comments!!

Thanks.

Two things, on the "About Me" page you just have a photo. I think it would be good to do something like this so you can add some text as well. Also, on your "Contact Me" window, the "hy" in photography is cut off, so I would recommend taking off "underwater" to get it to fit. Just my two cents!

(By the way... EXTREMELY jealous that you get to do this. As a fellow scuba diver, Missouri just doesn't have the same scenery!)

JayP Jun-09-2012 10:07 AM

Thanks - working on the text part as we speak. I thought I had fixed the "hy" issue. Will go back and check.
We spend a lot of time in Cozumel, as you can see. Love it there.

Thanks

Jay

Fixed the "hy" issue. Let me know what your next thoughts are for the test on the about me page. Thanks for the help.

Make your "welcome to" gallery "unlisted" so it doesn't appear as an empty gallery on your Galleries page! :nod

My thought was to have it shown so the text is seen by Google as I have little text on my site and none on the home page.

Website finished - for now

I redesigned my site http://www.ranaphotos.com and welcome some feedback.

I know I still have to add a link back to my page from my blog. I am still working on my pricing page as well and just have a few basic items up there.

thanks,

TJ
