Abandoned factory

I have shot here before and then I have posted some other pictures (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=97966).
But today I moved to another area where one can find great mechanisms.
I shot in the morning and the Sun strikes the walls too harshly.
May be I have to go back there in the evening when the Sun is not so strong or may be in a cloudy day. :wink
It is amazing that now that I shoot with the Canon 5D and start using the simple program called Lightroom my photos got better than before.
However, I am aware that the photos herewith can be improved.

1. In this one the reflection of the light on the ground illuminated the tubes very nicely enhancing their shapes. I used the big mass/volume in the foreground while focusing at the end of the tube.

2. Here you can clearly see what I mean about the Sun and it's position. The area where it strikes is burned and has no information.

3. A detail with a spider web. The light is good here because we can see it's reflection on the tab and tube while having a dark blurred background. Not bad photo.

4. It important to show a detail tacking advantage of the harsh light. It worked OK.

5. This is just a experiment to see what we can get - I should say - I can get from a little play with Lighroom. If you ask me I couldn't do it again.:wink
It is a very "modern" photo, very up date, like HDR or similar.
I noticed that Lightroom is amazingly simple to work with and returns very nice pictures.

6. The last but not the least: the same picture in B&W. Very powerful !

Wow...you did amazing work :thumb

I love the spider web and the facuet knob -- the dust/dirt on there is picked up well. Of course your last two..I pick the colored one, but like the BW to. The color one sure pops.

You have found a gold mine for future photos in this place. I'd certainly return when the light is different --cloudy, evening and even raining....are there any broken windows you can catch rain coming in? So many possibilites.

You mentioned Lightroom....I haven't gotten it yet. Looks like it may be a purchase I'm going to have to make.

I'm happy you liked the rain idea.....water/rain in your photos with all that metal and rust....bring a good flashlight and shine it on some water or metal for reflections. I use a flash light sometimes and it works pretty good. I'm not into all photography lights, etc.

Yeah...smoke would be neat, but your right...no fires :D

Placing a woman in a white dress would be nice in these photos....hope you can find someone to help you with that. Then again....kids playing in an empty building or maybe an older man....remembering a time he worked in this place. Your possibilities are endless for this place. Lucky you !!!

I'm really interested in the ovens in this photo and the pipe laying in the hall/walkway. I like to follow a line or in this case the pipe to see where it points to and then take a photo from that perspective. Sometimes it works for me and other times it doesn't :D

Oh, I wish I could find a place like this ----- How long to do stay there when you taking your photos? I'd have to camp out there :rofl

Mary, I work 20 meters away from this. :D
I spent there about 1 and a half hour and I was all alone.
You gave me an idea: I can get the "cleaning women" to go there.:clap
They asked me to shoot them. There is at least five of them.:D

I don't think it is not possible you to come and shoot here. It is closed to the public. Sorry. :cry

They clean only the "new" parts of the permisses if I can call it to the offices.

I will ask them to go there and shoot. I am sure they won't mind and laught very much.
I would like to place them as if they were acting in a theatre... With smilling faces, ugly faces, sweeping the floor, etc.
I can use talcum powder to produce small clouds of dust.
But at the distance from my beautifull 5D:D

The area/town I live in is alllllllll new development so i'd saw an arm off to get some rich, grimy history like what you have here. My hometown has a lot of old farms and factories I oculd sneak into.... :wink I'll have to do that.

Nothing interesting happens in the back hallway under my point of view.
