Pentax Spot meter 3/21 how does it work?

I have an older spotmeter, Pentax 3/21 with new batteries. The needle moves to indicate the light level when button is depressed. I do not know if the meter is in high or low range. The needle only moves when button pushed. Any solutions or information?

do a google and you may find a downloadable manual....might also check with Pentax since they are still in business.............:thumb
