Good capture. I know how tough it is to get those guys when they are taking off. Its a bit soft, what was your shutter speed?

But I agree with Harry. The head and furthest wing are soft for an F14 aperture. The nearest underwing area and the feet look nice and sharp. Must be motion blur :dunno
Still, I know how skittish these guys can be, so a marginally soft shot is much better than no shot at all :clap

Steve got so exciting watching the bird take flight, he shook the camera a tad. Hey, happens to us ALL!
So don't blame the F stop, don't blame the lens, don't blame the camera, and ya can't even blame steve.... those birds can be captivating at times.
Solution: we get Steve IS........
