Haven't been shooting much lately. I took a class (photography) over this past
weekend at the UofM farm campus. Across the street were some cow barns
with some calves in them. This little one was the most photogenic.
I did a digital weekend through the Rocky Mountain School of Photography.
As for what I learned. I learned that I should send the money for
Photoshop CS. It's light years ahead of the 5.5 version that I've been using.
Saturday evening, they had a "Canon, Explorers of Light" lecture.
The guest speaker was Jim Brandenburg. If you get the chance to go hear
him, do it.
Anyway. Here's the pic. Taken in the morning before class.

How was that done?

How was that done?Hi Peter.
It was done pretty easily.
Picture 1) Straight from the camera. I exposed the calf's face, so the camera
would expose the face and leave the rest of the picture dark.
Picture 2) I cropped and applied some adjustments, mostly levels to bring the
face "out" a bit more.
Picture 3) I applied a little bit of "brightness/contrast" and some "unsharpen
mask". I then painted out the post above and below it's head.
Saved it, and put it on the web. I normally sharpen some before and
after I resize the pic. It seems that when I resize, it loses some sharpness.
that's it.

Thanks for the insight Dave. I'm dying to find some time to start Photoshopping my pics. I just learned a technique I can use. :D
