I am new to video here at smug mug... i have a sony hdr-sr12 HD cam. I convert the files using procoder to a dvd format. the file is 720x 480 in a 16:9 aspect ratio as a VOB file (which i rename to a MPG before i upload). On my end, the video, while a bit shaky is crystal clear, not interlaced or anything. The video shows up fine on smugmug, but when i click and view it as a ipod/dvd format, the size on screen (window) is not 720 because if i have the movie playing in media player or bs player, the window is bigger. I would have expected the video in windo mode to show up as 720x480, not smaller.

Also, my original vob file does not show the interlacing nearly as bad as the version posted here.

Is there something on my end I can do to rectify? or is this normal

The iPod/DVD format is actually a bit smaller.

<table style="width: 524px; height: 48px;" class="confluenceTable"><tbody><tr><td class="confluenceTd">iPod/DVD </td> <td class="confluenceTd"> 640x480 1.2Mbps H.264 Baseline Profile </td> <td class="confluenceTd"> 128kbps 48KHz stereo AAC-LC </td></tr></tbody></table>

You can find this and the other sizes on the video format page here: http://wiki.smugmug.com/display/SmugMug/Video+Formats

Be careful about just renaming files like that. It may work with some. Others it can really mess things up. If you need to change a video format, you are better off runing it through a converter. You may find that a codec is not supported.
