Pixel Adjust??

Anyway to correct pixelization when I transform a picture?? I'm using CS3 BTW..

Maybe my camera just isn't set up right.. But how do I avoid the pixelisation when I try to crop a picture?? -Besides holding shift.

Nikon D80; Quality: Fine, Picture Size: Large. -Is that right??

Is the first image the entire frame, or is it just a portion of the frame?

It was shot at ISO 400 at 27mm.

I would suggest shooting at the lowest ISO you camera has, as a first step in maximum image quality. I shot my 5D at ISO 100, and easily captured images at f5.6 and f8, so there was lots of light available at the f4 aperture you were using at ISO 400. I also strongly suggest you shoot in RAW, rather than jpgs for capturing fireworks. If you desire a larger image, and have shot in RAW, then you can specify an uprezzed image in Adobe Camera RAW at the time of processing.

When there are large areas of dark sky, there will be very little image data in those pixels and they will have significant noise, unless the Black point in the image is set to drive them to blackness. These dark areas will not uprezz well, unless they are fully black, because that is where the noise hides in the image.

27mm seems like a pretty short focal length unless you were very close to the fireworks. Capturing the image larger in the camera is the best way to have bigger, sharper, more enlargeable pictures.

The D80 should support a modest crop at ISO 400, but not very much.
