We spent a week in northern California, visiting Redding, Lassen Volcanic NP, and then the redwood forests between Eureka and Crescent City. My favorite shots were actually from an evening at the Sundial Bridge in Redding, CA. The Sundial Bridge is a pedestrian bridge across the Sacramento River at Turtle Bay Exploration Park in downtown Redding, it really is pretty spectacular. The architect is Spanish and apparently quite well-known, right now I am blanking on the name. I include my three favorites below, you can see the whole gallery here (http://canghuixu.smugmug.com/gallery/5230634_dGNfU).

It makes for interesting comparison with the Esplanade Riel across the Red River in Winnipeg, which by coincidence I took some shots of last year (http://canghuixu.smugmug.com/gallery/5257313_eDJdH). The big difference of course is that the Esplanade Riel has a Salsbury House restaurant right in the middle where you can order up hot dogs.

I also took lots of pictures at Lassen and at the various redwood parks, but as much as I liked them, I don't think they can compare with the really spectacular stuff that gets posted here on a regular basis.

What lines :thumb And you did well capturing them.

I also had to take a look at the bridge over the Red River in Canada since the Red River runs right through my town :D Sorry to say we don't have any fancy bridge like that.

Thanks.

I feel like I was really lucky with the location of the moon in #2. I had a few other shots of the bridge from that location earlier in the evening and later in the evening, and neither of them worked, I think because of the location of the moon.

Santiago Calatrava. Great designer.
