I've been making some videos to backup on my smugmug account. I'm running into the problem of the file sizes being too large for the upload (I have the Power level).

I went back into my progam that I make the videos (Studio 9) and have realized that I have more options.

I usually create an MPEG on VHS level.

They also have:
SVCD
DVD
Micro MV
MPEG4 Sub-QCIF 128x96
MPEG4 QCIF 176x120
MPEG4 QCIF 176x144
MPEG4 SIF 352x240
MPEG4 CIF 352x288
MPEG4 2CIF 704x288
MPEG4 4CIF 704x576
Custom

Question: Does anyone know what size I should try and use to get an entire 8 minute video uploaded to smugmug without exceeding the 512 mb rule?

I am afraid that the 512MB file size is not your problem in this case. The limit for power accounts is 2.5 minutes regardless of the file size.

Pro users can upload 5 minutes of HD and 10 minutes of SD.

ALL accounts must upload video files smaller than 512MB.

For your account level, one of the MPEG4 formats should work. You could also try the DVD quality if it outputs to one of our supported formats:

Thanks docwalker, I guess I was thinking file size more than video length.
