It seems like a no brainer. When I update my site with new pix of my little girl (shes turning 2 soon), it will send an email out to those who I choose - or those who have chosen.
OR,
I can click a button when im ready to send a notification out to all who are subscribed.
Right now I have to do it via email manually - pain!
Kinda regards,
Ryan

RyanHi, I use the rss feature here at smugmug to do almost this very thing. Maybe you can get some of your people onboard with rss.
Good Luck

1. With SM you can this (account settings, mail):
usage warning > Yes: No: sent in the rare case of a gallery's traffic gone wild (more)
statistics > Yes: No: periodic email updates on traffic to your gallery
upload status > Yes: No: do you want to get upload status emails?
smugmug news > Yes: No: new feature additions, etc. not advertising.
comment notifies > Yes: No: get email when someone comments
2. With Star*Explorer you can send more configurable upload emails to multiple ppl

That's not what he's talking about. He wants all his friends and family to get notified.
minoltaman is right, the way to do this is have them all subscribe to the RSS feeds using an RSS reader, mail reader, whatever. More info about it in the help sections...
