Looking for tips to get better images from home aquarium. Problems now include low lighting, fast moving subjects, and variable focal distances.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Sydkid,

Welcome to dgrin.

A search here on dgrin will turn up several threads. Heres one - Start here (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=96930) and here (http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=21427&highlight=shooting+aquariums)

My shots were all handheld some with a 10D or a 20D, and some with a 1DsMkll. Lens typically was an 85mm f 1.8, or a 50mm f1.4

You have to used 30 degrees up and Auto flash, with only tank actinics lights on.Flash pictures give a different, sometimes interesting lighting effect. I shoot most pictures under tank lighting, leaving the actinics off for the truest colour
