These pictures are of my brother in law and sister in law. They are expecting a little boy in August so before it gets too hot or before the baby decides to come early we decided we needed to go ahead and take some pictures. We had fun taking them and definitly got memorable shots.

Here are some of the pics
1.) This turned out to be my personal faverite

nice series.

the color on some looks fantastic -- 1, 5, 7

the others. . .

2 looks too blue
3 too dark - litt levels will fix that baby right up.
4 i am not a bw guy, so I will no comment on this one
6 too flashy, and maybe too blue ( I tend to like warm; when dgrinners are honest they will tell me all of mine are too warm)
8 too dark and too flashy
9 again, I'd like to see it warmer, closer to 7

If you can point the flash at a reflector to the side or top and bounce it you will get a little less flat picture.

Am I being too picky? Hope not. Just trying to help.

The 2nd last is most candid. Have a blessed child.

I like the concept of #4, but the execution is off. It looks like the father is caught up in the moment, but the mother is distracted by something else in the park. It doesn't look to me like she is in the moment.

I think you are right. If she were looking down at the baby/ father it would work better.

Love the colors and the facial expressions! Just one bit of advice. ( I do lots of maternity portraits and also am a labor and delivery nurse...) NEVER take a pregnant woman's photo straight on or totally sideways if you want to remain friends :D Always slightly angle the belly one direction or another. Have the mom hold her hand under or on top of the belly and getting wedding rings (if applicable) in the photo

Thanks for all the comments!

Josh-- I agree that 1,5,7 are by far the best and the others have some color issues. When I tried to warm them up they didnt look right so i was sorta stuck for the time being....The wierd thing is I was using a better bounce card the whole time and they still turned out a bit flat. On #3 I was trying to get fancy with the flash and do the strobist thing with the darkening the background and haveing light come from the side....Didnt work out but owell...I bought a sunpack 383 for 30 this weekend and having it in manual will be alot easier to figure out then the vivitar 283 for off-camera stuff.....

david-low---Thanks for the comments!!!

john-68--Yea that she is looking off.....Opps.....Here is slightly different version....

Did you shoot RAW? You have a lot more flexibility to correct color if you shoot RAW

Also, someone on this forum offered this advice once: if you can't fix the color, go black and white!
