I've promised a set in colour many times and I've been umming and erring over a set of photos for quite a long time now. I think it's time to let them loose rather than keeping them captive.

Numero 1 and 2.
Now if you only had a shadowy figure in #1 (shivers) that's the only thing missing from that shot to make it a 10 in my book. Still a strong and excellent images.

Awesome stuff! :thumb Thanks for sharing.
Only one question - why are they called "Lantern Slides" ??? :scratch
Is it a technique? post processing? or just a cool name that you made up :wink
Thanks for sharing

Why "Lantern Slides"? I borrowed the term from Phillip Pullman who used it as a title for small self contained passages at the end of the Northern Lights. I think it's quite evocative and fits nicely with the general theme.
However, I've uploaded a "Lantern Slides : Part Two " (http://www.brfuk.com/lanternslides2/).

Lots of warm tones and water in this one. All taken around and about Oxford again.
In the process of uploading them to smugmug.

Is that bridge in Christ Church meadow, crossing to the island with the boathouse?

2nd row 3rd from left
just beautiful
would you mind sharing how you created these? the post processing steps?
it would be interesting to attempt something similar although i'm quite sure by telling us we'd not be able to replicate your work - perhaps come up with something off on a tangent which could also be interesting :)
Cheers and thanks for the second installment- these are just fantastic! :clap
Spectacular!!!! I visited your site and your work is spectacular! :bow

Thank you all!

It certainly is! Well spotted :)
I don't really have a post processing formula of any kind. I just use curves, sharpen & blur. Sometimes lots of the forementioned, sometimes little.

This thread is well worth the wait! I wondered why you called it Lantern Slides, too, although it's still a beautiful name for a beautiful set of images. :thumb

Agreed, really wonderful images with a lot of feeling and mood to them, and composition to back it up.
I too am wondering about your post processing, are you using colored filters? I'd love to know what steps you used, specifically in those nice warm images in that 2nd "panel" of shots.
