Hi,
I uploaded an mp4 video but the music soundtrack has become corrupted or not playing properly. It sounds like when you hold down the fast forward button on a CD player with the sound getting faster and ending before the video finishes. Link here (http://www.digitalnature.co.uk/gallery/3394602_EKh8j/11/312984625_xAwsq/Medium). The original file plays fine locally in QuickTime - link here (http://www.mgpages.co.uk/misc/animoto_high_res.mp4) if you want to download and play. Help appreciated.
I've just uploaded my first video file, 26mb of QuickTime .mov format, and had the same problem. Any suggestions?

This is most often associated with an unsupported Codec. You will need to save the file with another Codec, or run it through a converter before uploading.
I use MPEG StreamClip from www.squared5.com
Other causes are a super high data rate, you can also adjust that using the converter.
Try converting the video to h.264 with AAC audio format to see if that will work.

Thanks docwalker that did the trick!
Is it possible to get the videos to play "inline" in the web page rather than in the pop-up slideshow style window?

You mean like the video here?
<object width=425 height=239><param name="movie" value="http://cdn.smugmug.com/ria/ShizVidz-2008042602.swf" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="flashVars" value="s=ZT0xJmk9MjE5MjU2NTQ4Jms9VGtIZ1ImYT0zNzk5MjcyX1Zy WGpOJnU9Y21hY2ZvcnVt" /><embed src="http://cdn.smugmug.com/ria/ShizVidz-2008042602.swf" flashVars="s=ZT0xJmk9MjE5MjU2NTQ4Jms9VGtIZ1ImYT0zNzk5MjcyX1Zy WGpOJnU9Y21hY2ZvcnVt" width=425 height=239 type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always"></embed></object>
Watch the video to the end. You will see this:

Click the button on the right.
Then click the code you want on the next page to copy it.

You end up with this:
<object width=425 height=239><param name="movie" value="http://cdn.smugmug.com/ria/ShizVidz-2008042602.swf" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><param name="flashVars" value="s=ZT0xJmk9MjE5MjU2NTQ4Jms9VGtIZ1ImYT0zNzk5MjcyX1Zy WGpOJnU9Y21hY2ZvcnVt" /><embed src="http://cdn.smugmug.com/ria/ShizVidz-2008042602.swf" flashVars="s=ZT0xJmk9MjE5MjU2NTQ4Jms9VGtIZ1ImYT0zNzk5MjcyX1Zy WGpOJnU9Y21hY2ZvcnVt" width=425 height=239 type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always"></embed></object>
Click the play button :-)

Thanks for this - didn't know you could embed in a page like that. Actually what I was meaning was when playing on the SmugMug page itself, can I configure SmugMug to play the video inline, eg. as it appears here (http://www.digitalnature.co.uk/gallery/3382212_CdhVE/4/315537869_K2jXC/Medium) rather than in the separate frame that opens up over the top when you click play.

You could always embed the video link into another gallery description.
