Just a few pics I took of relatives at the party - I need to work on my framing more, I know :D

A moment of thought

All the pics are in my Smugmug here (http://samwise.smugmug.com/gallery/5131826_rYvws)

Some OK ones, some not so good - I need to think more about composition, especially when I'm faced with shadows and light like I was there. It's all a learning curve :deal

Sounds like you've already learned what you need to do next time! Definitely a learning curve, and it never seems to end! Another thing you might keep in mind is a shallower depth of field when shooting in crowds. #2 would have benefited with shallower depth to put the focus on Mom and less on the folks behind her. Keep at it!

I was shooting in auto mode, so the camera chose f4.5 at ISO125, with an exposure time of 1/200s - if in manual mode, f2.8 or something might've been better?

My head always hurts on trying to remember which way round the numbers go :scratch :D
