I've been tring to use the share a picture links for video on a forum i use and can't get them to work. so far the only way I've been able display the video is to copy and paste for the browser line, but then my whole gallery can be seen. What is it I'm going wrong, I just want the video to be seen not the whole gallery.:scratch

Watch your video until the very end. Then you will see 3 icons. One of them is the share button. Click that. You will see a couple options for your video sharing. Choose the one you want to use, click it. That will copy the correct code into your clipboard.

Go to the blog, forum, or post you want to the video to play. Paste that code in using the method your blog, forum, or post requires.

When you refresh, the video should appear.

This doesn't exactly work for me. I get a gallery link (I want to send a direct link, rather than embed in a message). But that's not all! :wink The direct link share button doesn't give me a usable link at all.

I have a pro account and it gives me a name.smugmug.com link that doesn't work, but if I change it to my custom host name, the link works. (still a gallery link, though)

To be clear, I'm looking for something along the lines of sending a link via email to a particular video. I'm not looking to embed anything.

btw, I also have a video that really gets messed up on recompression by smugmug. If you want an example of something really bad, I can show you. :) But I didn't really want to put links up in a public forum...

Doc,

What kind of video camera did you guys use on your Tahoe trip?

Thanks,

Carden

Most of the guys had a 5D MkII. Baldy had me shoot part of the Ski video with a Sony video camera. I don't remember the model but it was something similar to the HVR-V1U. There may have been a few others that I did not see.

Thanks. I was wondering if it was a video capable DSLR. Very impressive. I am considering a 300s in addition to my others. Interesting the Nikon is only 720P
versus the Canon at 1080P. Probably still gives great results.

Thanks again

The shots out of bounds in the rough snow were the ones I shot with the Sony. 1080p FTW. :-) Yes, I am a Canon fan boy.

This doesn't seem to work anymore. I turned on remote links in my gallery settings, but I cannot give a link to my video. How does it work? When I click Share/"Get a link", it only gives a link to display the image of video remotely, but not the video itself.
I don't want to share the whole gallery, but the video itself only.
To be clear, I don't want to embed the video, but actually give a link to it via e-mail. The e-mail button gives a link to the whole gallery...
Thanks.
