Right, I am really enjoying photography since getting myself my first DSLR (D40) a couple of months ago. I took this the first day I got it, and it is probably still my favourite shot I have taken.

So... Whip away!

I like how the street lights made sunbursts. I could see this turning into a futuristic picture by doing b/s on everything but the white and red traffic lights. Nice job!

I agree with the above poster. Nice shot! Also, welcome :thumb

My only complaint is that it seems like you were going for a symetrical look (I think) and the road divider doesn't go exactly straight down the center of the image.

Thanks for the responses!
Yep I did want it to be symmetrical, but there was a pillar in the middle of the bridge (I was on a bridge the same as the one opposite and you can just about see that there is a post in the middle). My tripod was too short to shoot over it - ah well.

I will have a go at doing the black and white thing when I get some time.
Thanks again

edit: just re-read your post and you actually suggested doing b/s on everything as opposed to b/w which is what I thought you meant... did you mean to type that? If so then what is b/s supposed to mean?!

Cheers

I am an office assistant and I have plenty of free time. I did mean black and white. You went for a dramatic saturated ink job too, I likes it.
And um, b/s means black over the positron of "s" to the power of all spark. Yeah...

That edit is amazing! The only thing left I can say on it is there is a sign under the bridge which distracts from the tailights on the left and in the middle near the didvider ther is some red light

The b/w photo is definitely the much improved version. One minor item is the fact it's too bad there wasn't a couple of tail light streams filling the inside lane just left of the centre guardrail. I think it would have helped balance out the light streams a bit more.

Also, I noticed in the b/w version, the light beams from the bridge lights don't extend out to the top of the photo as they do in the coloured version. Perhaps try cropping a bit of the sky away? Just a thought.

Very good photo.
