Video is rendered as square

I uploaded my first movie in MPG format. Smugmug converted it fine except that it is completely square (not just the thumbnail). How do I correct this?

I figured it out. It was basically because of the type of file I guess. When I changed the format to avi, I didn't have the problem anymore.
