I was lucky to be in Fla for the Shuttle launch - what an amazing experience!

as close as you were. The feel alone must have be something else. :D

Thank you! I had the Nikon 80-400 VR lens mounted on my D300. Hearing and feeling the shockwaves was awesome!

As I live up the road in Jacksonville, I've been fortunate to have witnessed quite a few space launches. The most impressive were the moon launches, using the Saturn rockets. One, in particular, was most memorable. I was very close to the launch site in a boat. When the shock waves hit me, my shirt began to flap wildly. The sounds were from another world and the visual impact of the fire in the night sky was unforgetable.

I have never taken a single picture of any of the launches I watched.

Theres a lens with reach. :D Its reviews hold it in fairly high regard. & its
light. I need a problem like that. :wink

Tom - I have to agree with you on the Saturn V launches - I worked at KSC during the Apollo program and those engines got your attention!
