the first cedar waxwings have appeared at the park... spotted this one this morning. as usual, he was up in the branches (i wish just once one would come down to eye level!), but i was still able to get some decent shots of him... 40D, 400mm, 1/1600 @ f/6.3...

thanks for all the kind words. i love these little guys too, just wish i could get something other than looking up at them! :rolleyes maybe this year will be the year for some really good waxwing shots...

Good captures! You might want to try to bring out the eyes more in your post work. Try selecting them and aplying some USM to the selected area.

Very nice detail. You did a good job in some harsh light, but in my experience waxwings are very difficult to expose for correctly because of the dark stripe that runs through the eye.
