View Full Version : Client approvals & rejections?

I asked this question before about a year ago and didn't get a great answer. But maybe things have changed and something better exists now?

My client (Boston Ballet) has to approve my shots before I can use them. Ideally, they could use the thumbs to do this; in any case, that's what they find intuitive (and wouldn't you?)

Unfortunately, as of last year, there was no way for me to recover the approvals and rejections once they used the thumbs for this purpose. I tried to train them to use comments, but it just wasn't happening and especially not now that they require anti-spam word copying.

I can ask them just to use the file names of the photos. In fact, I do ask them to do this, but I always just end up with a list of numbers of the photo's order in the gallery.

Ideally, I'd get an email with a list of the filenames they approved/rejected. OK, maybe that isn't happening, but maybe I could get a report somehow? Or something...

I suppose I could let them edit the gallery somehow, but guests can't delete.

Does someone have a good solution for this problem? It must come up with wedding photos all the time.

Maybe this is really a customization issue?

Thanks for any help.

I originally asked in the Pro forum, but that might not have been the right place for this question. Trying here.

Hi Rut - What I do for my Wedding Clients is hand them a spread sheet with the file EXTENSION #'s (I just use the clients name + a 4# extension for file names created using lightroom when I convert from RAW to .jpg) then just have them put a check in the YES or NO blocks for the ones they want. Simple yet effective so far and most of my wedding galleries are 1200-1500 shots. Then when I get the sheet back I use the HIDE PHOTO option as I go thru the check list in order and when I'm done the gallery only contains the WANTED shots left in view.

Also you COULD give them your MAIN Password in order to DELETE the photos themselves but you would have to make sure they could be TRUSTED not to screw with any other Gallery so I dont know if you would want that option.

That's 2 options to look at anyway, hope it helps guide you some since your not getting a load of answers I tried to help you out best I could think of !

Best Regards,
Bill
