I think your choice of a high key shot with blown backgrounds was a good one - the subject is still slightly dark, but not too underexposed and would have been without the +EC you dialed in.

This young lady has the same +ev applied.. hmmnn.. she didn't photo as dark as the first young lady

The second lady was fairer than the first. Slightly different skin tones perhaps? Was the second girl receiving some reflected light from a wall or something also?
