Haven't had much time to get on the board. Just wanted to put up a couple of quick ones done with Ginger while I was in Charleston.
I don't know about blowing into Charleston, but I was sure blown around Charleston for most of the weekend. 50 mph gusts and still saw a couple of sailboats in Charleston Harbor.
Ginger showed you the birds so here is some of the other wildlife present in the "Swamp" at Magnolia Gardens right outside of Charleston.
I call this first one "Peaceful Coexistence" or "Just what were those turtles thinking?"

This is what was lurking about 10-12 feet off the pathway where Ginger and I spent about two hours walking up and down taking the photos. We didn't see it until just before we were ready to leave. It could also be entitled "Peaceful coexistence" or "Just what were those two turkeys thinking?" :D

Here's Ginger and what her hair looks like in 50 mph wind.

We could have done without the wind.
Here the obligatory butt shot to return the favor, Ginger. :D

Sorry, there aren't any food shots as I was more interested in eating mine than photographing it.
I would like to thank Ginger for her company and showing me the Swamp. There will be many return visits there.

Sorry about the grass and twigs in front of the 'gator, but I wasn't about to reach down there and move them out of the way. :):

hey, nice series, dixie, thanks for sharing these. looks like you and ginger had a blast
Thanks for sharing the pictures and we get to see Ginger in action!
I can't believe those turtles are trying to get that 'gator off their log!
It's a lot of fun to meet other forum members off line, sorry the weather was wild but it looks like a good time was had by all.

Hey Dixie,
Great seeing your pics again. About moving those twigs, you didn't have to do it. It would have been a great learning experience for Ginger. :rofl

I love them, Dixie! Would like to see some bird shots, too. Mine were kind of busy, and that da#n GBH was in the shade mostly. It is said to be soft, but I think the face just shows no color. (Now why did I not notice that while taking the pictures. You were further to my rt, did you get more sun on his face?)
Also, you were there, how do you keep the depth of field shallow enough to separate the bird from the background, yet keep the whole bird, and maybe companion, in focus? I wasn't even thinking. Would have to look but think I shot mostly at f11 or below, know it wasn't higher, just on the principal of the ISO and stuff.
I love your alligator. That was the one time I really could have used the zoom feature. I got his eyes. I knew it at the time, but I really wish I had taken the time to switch lenses to get the whole gator. I am desperate for photos for KPOTD. What is more simple than a slimy lump of green...
You know there was someone trying to get down by the alligator, I thought he was nuts, he was probably after the weeds. They didn't bother me, all I saw were eyes.
Do you remember when I ran into the cypress tree while photograping that GBH again. This is what it looked like yesterday afternoon. I wasn't going to show you, but I am kind of amazed. It hurt like the dickens, but I still took another picture of the GBH with his head in the shade.
Warning: Old lady, no make up, eyes feeling allergic, etc. To try to help all of us, I blurred most of it, but, well...........
I wasn't going to show this, Dixie, as I know you didn't know I hit the tree that hard, but the devil has me or something, I am amazed!

Can you see the eye covering on the left, a bit? Think KPOTD would take it?
:rofl Would love to have the whole head.
Am going to make a small copy of the butt shot and frame it, love it.
Glad you posted!!!

Ginger, I don't know if you could survive me making another trip over to Charleston. Between you falling down the stairs Saturday morning and then running into the cypress tree Saturday afternoon, I'm just glad I got you back home to Bill in one piece. Do you think he'll let us go do photos together again?
I wish that you had told me about hitting your head on the cypress as I had a first aid kit in the car as well as some Alieve.
...oh, and btw, that idiot wasn't going to move the grass and twigs. He went down next to the gator to harrass him. I was sorta hoping that the gator was going to get a meal. :rolleyes
I hope that you are doing okay after all the injuries on Saturday.
Thank you Andy and Harry. ...and Harry, I don't know if Ginger could have handled that gator after the stairs and the cypress tree. ...and I'm not into wrestling gators. ...and I don't know how Bill would have taken it if I had carried Ginger home in a genuine gator bag. :dunno
