Can I update jpg file information in photoshop without resaving the enitre file. Basically, I want to update the keyword section in a few pics, but not save a second itteration of the jpeg and reduce its quality

:scratch If the keywords are in your title, can't you just right click and rename the file? Hmmm, I'm probably revealing my abject ignorance about how keywords work.

Yes, but you do it in the File Browser section of Photoshop. Go to the File Browser, traveres to the directory the JPG resides in, then single-click on that image. You are not going to actually open the file at all.
I'm not at my Mac at the moment, so I can't guide you through this exactly, but you will see a keywords section window in the File Browser, and here you can define and set keywords in your JPGs.

PS CS -> File Browser > navigate to file -> right mouse button -> File Info..
Keywords edit box is on the very first page

You can also add keywords to a file in Windows Explorer (not Intenet Explorer), simply by right-clicking the filename or thumb, opening the "properties" box and clicking on the "summary" tab. When you save the change, it only records as a file "accessed" - not "modified".
