i like the concept and the title, but the image doens't really do anything for me. My main thoughts:
-try black and white?
-a solid-colored black base?
-I can't get passed the line in the forehead where the top lifts off. It immediately says that this is a model, and therefore it loses any of the spookiness

I agree that the subject could use some work, but the technical bits are good.
What if you focus on the reflection rather than the skull? What lies beneath type of thing that gives it grain and make the viewer try to figure out the image a bit.
I also agree that black and white would help.
